Official footwear collaboration between NIKE and Steven Harrington. We made a Flyleather sneaker collection to celebrate sustainability and Earth Day – The footwear pack utilizes a new super material made with at least 50% recycled ♻️ leather scraps. Flyleather is not only friendly on the environment, but also acts as a really nice canvas to apply artwork to. The new collection was first available at our art exhibition opening here in Los Angeles 04.13.19, and later released online at the Nike Snkrs App. Big thanks to Nike for supporting the project, and gigantic thanks to everyone who scooped up a pair!
“Magic Hour,” 670 South Anderson Street, Los Angeles, CA 90023
Opening reception April 13th, 2019 6:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
On view April 13th – April 22nd, 2019
At first glance, California artist Steven Harrington’s latest exhibition, Magic Hour, is an over-the-top world of poppy colors, wild characters, and psychedelic dreams. For many viewers this first glance will be enough. It’s a fun, immersive world of paintings, drawings, and sculptures that will compel and delight. But look a little deeper and viewers might find something more—further contemplation on the artist’s lifelong exploration of balance, nature, musings on creative evolution, personification of the subconscious, and a little bit of chaos encroaching upon this happy, colorful world.
Magic Hour is a journey through the last few years of the artist’s life—vibrant encapsulations of personal moments that also translate to simple themes all viewers can connect to. Just as the magic hour straddles time between day and night, these works walk the line between lighthearted playfulness and something a bit more nuanced, image for the sake of image and icons that inspire narrative. “At the end of the day,” Harrington says, “it’s about sitting down in front of a piece of paper and freely exploring.” Bold, flat colors, abstract hints of nostalgia, and familiar yet surprising forms all invite the viewer in. What happens then is anyone’s guess.
This exhibition is generously supported by Nike. Nike and Harrington have partnered to present a new, small capsule collection of clothing and footwear, the latest in a years-long collaboration. The launch of sneakers and apparel, all featuring Harrington’s unmistakable designs, will coincide with the showing of Magic Hour.

We’re extremely excited to present our latest video project directed and edited by Jason Miller. Entitled “Wavy Days,” the 12 minute film documents Steven Harrington’s latest exhibition at Colette Paris:
Shot during the two weeks leading up to Steven’s exhibition, the film crew follows the artist as he works on final preparations for his one-man show in Paris. We hope you enjoy a quick glimpse into the artist’s journey as he works on final paintings, drawings, street posters, and installation for his show at Colette Paris. (with plenty of beer along the way.)
“Wavy Days,” my first solo show in Paris since 2009 is now on view at Colette, Paris. The title reflects my ongoing relationship with anxiety:
“It seems that all my life I’ve dealt with anxiety. Like many folks nowadays, I’m no stranger to feelings of worry, stress, apprehension, and even fear. Sometimes the feelings are constant and then sometimes I can go weeks or months without experiencing an anxious moment. But, in taking an honest look at my feelings, I’ve discovered that most of my anxiety is really of my own making—a pointless waste of emotional energy over things in the world I simply cannot control. Sometimes life just happens.
Through these paintings, I have found a way to deal with my own anxiety. To me, the paintings have become a way of making fun of these annoying moments and worrisome voices that I have in my head. I’ve purposely chosen to paint these emotions as playful cartoons in the hope of shedding humor on and giving perspective to the subjects. Please note the titles. I hope you enjoy.”
If you’re in Paris then please visit the exhibition:
Colette, 213 Rue Saint-Honore, 75001 Paris, France

I’m extremely excited to announce the release of my first home/lighting project.
Entitled “Remain In Balance,” I’ve taken my exploration of balance into completely new territory. Please read the following press release for more information and details about the project. Or download the catalogue HERE.
About The Collaboration: With his latest Case Studyo collaboration, California artist Steven Harrington takes his exploration of balance to a whole new level. Working with wood for the first time ever, Harrington has turned the totem-like structures of his Remain in Balance series into three whimsical, anthropomorphic lamps. Each one represents the harmony we seek in our daily lives, an inspired and inspiring reminder of the importance of equanimity. Harrington’s Remain in Balance lamps are hand carved and hand painted with the utmost care; the hand-splattered linen drum lamp shade adds a bright punch of color to the natural, organic feel of the sculpture. Each lamp is a functional work of art that illuminates, literally and figuratively.

Hypebeast swung by the studio for an intimate look at Steven’s sketchbook, which—no surprise—includes marbled textures, cosmic palm trees, and wacky pipes. It also offers a rare look into the process behind the finished work.
German magazine Freunde von Freunden spent the day with Steven, getting a tour of his Pasadena home and the National Forest studio. The two talked sunshine, good vibes, the influence of the desert, and the power of crystal skulls. Read the entire interview and peruse a grip of awesome pics.
