Official footwear collaboration between NIKE and Steven Harrington. We made a Flyleather sneaker collection to celebrate sustainability and Earth Day – The footwear pack utilizes a new super material made with at least 50% recycled ♻️ leather scraps. Flyleather is not only friendly on the environment, but also acts as a really nice canvas to apply artwork to. The new collection was first available at our art exhibition opening here in Los Angeles 04.13.19, and later released online at the Nike Snkrs App. Big thanks to Nike for supporting the project, and gigantic thanks to everyone who scooped up a pair!

At first glance, California artist Steven Harrington’s latest exhibition, Magic Hour, is an over-the-top world of poppy colors, wild characters, and psychedelic dreams. For many viewers this first glance will be enough. It’s a fun, immersive world of paintings, drawings, and sculptures that will compel and delight. But look a little deeper and viewers might find something more—further contemplation on the artist’s lifelong exploration of balance, nature, musings on creative evolution, personification of the subconscious, and a little bit of chaos encroaching upon this happy, colorful world.
Magic Hour is a journey through the last few years of the artist’s life—vibrant encapsulations of personal moments that also translate to simple themes all viewers can connect to. Just as the magic hour straddles time between day and night, these works walk the line between lighthearted playfulness and something a bit more nuanced, image for the sake of image and icons that inspire narrative. “At the end of the day,” Harrington says, “it’s about sitting down in front of a piece of paper and freely exploring.” Bold, flat colors, abstract hints of nostalgia, and familiar yet surprising forms all invite the viewer in. What happens then is anyone’s guess.
This exhibition is generously supported by Nike. Nike and Harrington have partnered to present a new, small capsule collection of clothing and footwear, the latest in a years-long collaboration. The launch of sneakers and apparel, all featuring Harrington’s unmistakable designs, will coincide with the showing of Magic Hour.

We’re extremely excited to release our latest project in collaboration with one of our favorite streetwear labels AAPE *By A Bathing Ape®. The collection encompasses a special edition vinyl figure, graphic T-shirts, and screen printed posters. The collectible sculpture, limited to only 300 pieces, features Harrington’s signature palm tree character with the ubiquitous AAPE character clinging onto it. We finally had the opportunity to sculpt life-sized palm trees! We just installed our biggest sculpture to date. “Wavy Days,” my first solo show in Paris since 2009 is now on view at Colette, Paris. The title reflects my ongoing relationship with anxiety:
“It seems that all my life I’ve dealt with anxiety. Like many folks nowadays, I’m no stranger to feelings of worry, stress, apprehension, and even fear. Sometimes the feelings are constant and then sometimes I can go weeks or months without experiencing an anxious moment. But, in taking an honest look at my feelings, I’ve discovered that most of my anxiety is really of my own making—a pointless waste of emotional energy over things in the world I simply cannot control. Sometimes life just happens.
Through these paintings, I have found a way to deal with my own anxiety. To me, the paintings have become a way of making fun of these annoying moments and worrisome voices that I have in my head. I’ve purposely chosen to paint these emotions as playful cartoons in the hope of shedding humor on and giving perspective to the subjects. Please note the titles. I hope you enjoy.”

“Wavy Days” will feature 16 newly hand-painted canvases, 15 graphite drawings, 2 new sculptural works, and an exclusive screen-printed exhibition poster. A special onsite mural will be painted for the event, and an exhibition catalogue has also been printed.
The paintings present a brand new body of work that has never been exhibited, or shown within a gallery space. Each painting measures 32 x 32 inches x 3 inches deep, and is constructed of high quality hand-made, hand-stretched canvas.

Belgium’s Case Studyo releases Steven Harrington’s newest sculpture, The Thinker. Hypebeast swung by the studio for an intimate look at Steven’s sketchbook, which—no surprise—includes marbled textures, cosmic palm trees, and wacky pipes. It also offers a rare look into the process behind the finished work.
